ANNOUNCEMENTS

1. ICJME needs your feedback!

The ICJME (International Committee of Medical Journal Editors) is requesting feedback/comments on a new proposed requirement for investigators to share de-identified individual-subject data (IPD) from their clinical trials, no later than 6 months after publication.

Note: ICMJE has for several years required, as a condition of publication, that clinical trials be registered on CT.gov prior to the enrollment of the first subject.    This new proposal expands this requirement by requiring a detailed data sharing plan as part of the CT.gov registration.  The plan must include where the researchers will house the data and if not in a public repository, the mechanism by which they will provided others access to the data and the plan must be in submitted manuscript.

If the policy is adopted, clinical trials that begin to enroll participants 1 year after policy adoption must comply.

ICMJE is asking for comments on the following 4 specific areas:

  • Do you agree with the general requirement to share participant level data?
  • Is 6 months after publication too soon? Too late? Just right?
  • Do you agree with the requirement to include a detailed data sharing plan at the time of CT.gov registration (prior to enrollment of the first subject)?
  • Do you agree that an alternate means of giving credit to the data generator who shares data must be developed?

The attached link includes:

  • A link to the proposal itself
  • The ICMJE feedback form AND
  • A link to comments that have already been posted.

Comments are due on April 18, 2016

2. Do You Need Help Identifying Funding Opportunities?

The ORCD is sponsoring consultation meetings for faculty and research fellows to meet with Amy Robb, Assistant Director for Prospect Research and Funding Opportunities, Corporate & Foundation Relations, MGH Development Office, to set up personalized funding searches. Amy can meet with individuals or small groups who share funding goals. There are currently slots available in April 2016.

This consultation will help you:

  • Set up search parameters designed to identify funding sources for your research program
  • Receive a weekly report of updated search results
  • Gain a greater understanding of how to use COS Pivot to conduct additional searches on your own
Please click here to register. If you do not see an available slot that works for you, please email orcd@partners.org to express your interest in meeting with Amy.

5. Call for Abstracts: Center for Skeletal Research Symposium

Wednesday, June 8, 2016; 1:00pm – 5:00pm, O’Keeffe Auditorium, Blake 1

Abstract Submission Deadline:  May 9th at 5pm EDT

The Center for Skeletal Research (CSR), based in the Endocrine Unit at MGH, and funded by a NIAMS P30 grant,  is happy to announce its second annual Research Symposium. The goal is to bring together the Boston bone research community for an exciting afternoon of scientific exchange. This year we will again feature talks by two talented leaders of the field from outside the Center. New this year is a special meeting with Drs. Joan McGowan and Faye Chen for young investigators. We will also be expanding the poster session and will again offer prizes. Posters will be displayed in the Bulfinch Patio Tent. We ask that you register for the meeting so we can get a good sense of the number of attendees in advance and because seating is limited.
