1. Core of the Week: MGH Martinos Center - Technology and Computational Core
|
MGH Martinos Center - Technology and Computational Core
Director: Bruce Rosen
Location: Building 149 13th Street, 2nd Floor, Charlestown
The backbone of the Martinos Center is the Imaging and Computational Core Resources. The Imaging Core includes an extensive and expanding inventory of state-of-the-art MR, MEG, Optical Imaging and PET Imaging facilities andequipment, including related laboratories and testing rooms.
The Computational Core oversees data processing, computational infrastructure, software and hardware issues. Together the Imaging and Computational cores develop and provide state-of-the art biomedical imaging and image processing technology and techniques to the Center's research faculty and user community.
The Core resources are fully supported by user fees drawn from research grants, instrumentation grants, and industry agreements. The core facilities are available for use to all qualified investigators from academic, medical, government and industry labs. While the mission primarily involves research and development, the Core also provides a clinical MEG service to the hospital (MGH). A clinical MRI service is not available.

Sponsored by the MGH Clinical Research Program and the Partners eCare Research Team
If you have subjects in one of the research studies on the list, we strongly recommend you attend one of the workshop sessions. Experienced staff from Partners eCare Team will assist you with enrolling subjects in a research study using EPIC. They will also be available to answer any questions you may have related to this process.
*EPIC will go live at MGH on July 12, 2014, enrolling your active subjects in EPIC will facilitate the process of identifying upcoming appointments, linking those visits to the study and initiating the correct billing process.*
Registration is required. Contact Jillian Tonelli or Kelsey Gay with questions. Please complete all the information requested on the registration form. Incomplete registration forms will not be accepted. Walk-ins will not be permitted.

FUNDING OPPORTUNITIES
|
|
1. PCORI Funding Opportunity
|
Late last year, PCORI introduced a new funding initiative that makes substantial investments in larger and longer comparative clinical effectiveness research (CER) projects in the form of “pragmatic studies.” These are studies designed to address important questions faced by typical patients and clinicians, so they include broader and more diverse populations than those found in traditional randomized controlled trials, where narrowly defined groups of participants are studied in highly controlled settings.
The second cycle of this initiative has now been announced. To learn more about this opportunity please click here. Please click here to read the full funding announcement.
|
|
2. Limited Submission Funding Opportunities
|
We ask that all MGH Investigators interested in applying for any limited submission award submit a Letter of Intent (see detailed instructions below) to the MGH Executive Committee on Research (ECOR) by the deadline indicated for each award to be considered to receive an institutional nomination.
Process
Submit a one- to two-page Letter of Intent (LOI) to the MGH Executive Committee on Research (ECOR) via email to ecor@partners.org. In addition to your LOI, please include an NIH Biosketch.
The letter of intent should include:
1. Name of the Principal Investigator with appropriate contact information
2. A descriptive title of the potential application
3. Brief description of the project
4. Brief description of why you specifically should be selected to receive institutional nomination for this award
In the event that there is more than one MGH investigators interested in applying each limited submission award, the LOIs will be used to assess candidates and a review and selection process will take place.
