Formulaic Bridge Funding FAQs

ELIGIBILITY

Q: I have not received my written documentation from the NIH, i.e. an email that the grant will not be funded on the nominal start date. Can I still apply?

A: No, the written response from the NIH is required for this review process. If you submit an application without this, the application will not be reviewed.

Q: I received a percentile of 19 from the National Science Foundation. Am I eligible to apply for Formulaic Bridge Funding or Deliberative Interim Support?

A: You are not eligible to apply for Formulaic Bridge Funding. Due to the variations in scoring and assigning percentiles among various funding cources, the "20% and under rule" only applies to grants submitted to the NIH. You are, however eligible to apply for Deliberative Interim Support.

Q: I applied for Formulaic for the March 7, 2019 deadline and my award started on May 1, 2019. How long am I ineligible to apply for Formulaic on another grant?

Investigators who have received either Formulaic Bridge Funding or Deliberative Interim Support for the past 24 months for any grant, must submit all interim support requests (regardless of percentile) through the Deliberative Interim Support process. The 24 month window begins upon the start date of the most recent Formulaic or Deliberative award.  In this example, the applicant would be eligible to apply for Formulaic again in May of 2021.
