1. ECOR Elections Results

A total of 297 faculty members cast their ballots to select two new elected representatives to ECOR.
In a spirited contest with six outstanding candidates, the two elected representatives are:

  • Professor: Steven Grinspoon, MD, Director, MGH Program in Nutritional  Metabolism
  • Assistant Professor: David Milan, MD, Cardiovascular Research Center

They will join the other ECOR elected representatives:

  • Sylvie Breton, PhD (Professor)
  • Allan Goldstein, MD (Associate Professor)
  • Stephanie Seminara, MD (Associate Professor)
  • Anne Thorndike, MD, MPH (Assistant Professor)

If you have a question or suggestion, they are available at Research Council (the first Monday of the month) or you can contact them directly. These six elected ECOR representatives are your voice at ECOR.

For information about ECOR & ECOR Reps responsibilities go to: http://ecor.mgh.harvard.edu

2. Crowdfunding Resources for Researchers

At the Dec. 7 Research Council meeting, the Mass General Development Office introduced an internally supported crowdfunding platform that has been extended to help MGH Researchers use crowdfunding campaigns to support their work.

This platform is operated with the support of both the Development Office and the Mass General Research Institute.

In case you missed it:

3. SAS Licensing Available for Researchers

SAS licenses can no longer be purchased or renewed through Harvard University. In response, the Research Computing Core is now selling discounted SAS Analytics Pro single-user licenses at the cost of $400 per license annually. This initial license will be good until April 29, 2016 after which you can renew for a full year at $400; there is no prorating.

We are aware that several departments maintain their own SAS Servers with contracts nearing expiration. Partners is attempting to negotiate with SAS for continuing licensing on these systems. If you are impacted by an expiring SAS Server license, please complete a brief SAS Server Survey

The Research Computing Core offers either a single-user license option to install on your PC or a single-user license for use on our hosted Windows SAS Server. The Server License allows access to SAS Version 9.4 from a device, PC or Mac. We expect the Server License option to allow for superior scalability, increased data security and for the ability to access SAS from multiple devices (e.g., your laptop, desktop and workstation) with one license. The Server License requires Partners Network or VPN connection. Please see the comparison chart on our website for additional details about both options. Please complete the SAS License Request Form to purchase a license. You can purchase a SAS PC License and switch to the Server License at a later date at no additional cost (and vice versa). You may order up to five licenses with this form

Once PC license requests are submitted, a ticket will be opened at the Service Desk within 24 hours and a tech will contact you within 5 business days to schedule a remote assisted installation. Individual PC License installation can take from 1-2 hours. Your PC must be on the network, at work and wired. Installations cannot be done when you are on VPN or wireless.

One Server License requests are submitted, you will receive access information via email within 5 business days of your request.

If you have questions before completing either form, please send them to rcc@partners.org
