ANNOUNCEMENTS

1. Proposals Utilizing Epic/eCare

If you are planning a research project that relies on Epic (development/ configuration, integrating external applications with Epic, using MyChart/Patient Gateway functionality to contact patients, decision support) you are required to contact the PeC Research Team at – PeC Research Team – at the earliest stages of the planning and conception of your proposal to determine feasibility and next steps.

2. SAS Licensing Available for Researchers

SAS licenses can no longer be purchased or renewed through Harvard University. In response, the Research Computing Core is now selling discounted SAS Analytics Pro single-user licenses at the cost of $400 per license annually. This initial license will be good until April 29, 2016 after which you can renew for a full year at $400; there is no prorating.

We are aware that several departments maintain their own SAS Servers with contracts nearing expiration. Partners is attempting to negotiate with SAS for continuing licensing on these systems. If you are impacted by an expiring SAS Server license, please complete a brief SAS Server Survey

The Research Computing Core offers either a single-user license option to install on your PC or a single-user license for use on our hosted Windows SAS Server. The Server License allows access to SAS Version 9.4 from a device, PC or Mac. We expect the Server License option to allow for superior scalability, increased data security and for the ability to access SAS from multiple devices (e.g., your laptop, desktop and workstation) with one license. The Server License requires Partners Network or VPN connection. Please see the comparison chart on our website for additional details about both options. Please complete the SAS License Request Form to purchase a license. You can purchase a SAS PC License and switch to the Server License at a later date at no additional cost (and vice versa). You may order up to five licenses with this form

Once PC license requests are submitted, a ticket will be opened at the Service Desk within 24 hours and a tech will contact you within 5 business days to schedule a remote assisted installation. Individual PC License installation can take from 1-2 hours. Your PC must be on the network, at work and wired. Installations cannot be done when you are on VPN or wireless.

One Server License requests are submitted, you will receive access information via email within 5 business days of your request.

If you have questions before completing either form, please send them to rcc@partners.org
